He is a member of the Choi Ping Baptist Church, and after leaving his post as chairman of its deacon board more than 10 years ago, he pursued a certificate program in theology. He has been serving in the Sunday school ministry of his church for many years. He established his own company 30 years ago, and with God\u2019s provision, it has achieved outstanding success. To show appreciation of God\u2019s abundant blessings, he and his wife set up a fund in 2016 to support startup evangelical ministries. <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color: #235ba8; font-size: 24px;\"><strong>A Special Honor<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p align=\"\u201cjustify\u201d\">\u3000\u3000For over 30 years, Brother Ma has known President Cho, who in 2014 cordially invited him to join the President\u2019s Council. It was such a warm invitation that Brother Ma found it hard to decline. He also finds President Cho friendly and willing to seek other people\u2019s advice; he feels honored to work with him and be part of the seminary\u2019s mission. Besides, as a Baptist he is interested in how the seminary trains and nurtures his beloved pastoral workers. <\/p>\n<p align=\"\u201cjustify\u201d\">\u3000\u3000The Council consists of people from all walks of life. Each member is able to provide the president with practical advice informed by his or her individual profession. <em><strong>Bound by a friendship and based on mutual trust, the Council and the president are able to interact freely and honestly. Members may sometimes take an approach that is different from the president\u2019s and play the role of critical, albeit never cynical, challenger by offering frank advice to help broaden Dr. Cho\u2019s perspective. It is a role Brother Ma finds meaningful. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color: #235ba8; font-size: 24px;\"><strong>Baptist Family<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p align=\"\u201cjustify\u201d\">\u3000\u3000In April or May every year, the President\u2019s Council holds a meeting to exchange ideas. Brother Ma enjoys each occasion so much that he always yearns for more. Although members are from large and small Baptist churches, and some are more senior while others are more junior to him, he feels they are all part of a family even if they only meet once a year. Since all are Baptists, Brother Ma reasons, it is truly a blessing to take part in the affairs of the Baptist family and practice the doctrine of the \u201cpriesthood of all believers.\u201d After warming up in the meeting, every member will respond to the president\u2019s sharing and offer timely advice to him. It is a pity that due to time constraints, they often cannot fully speak their mind. However, they may continue their sharing during the dinner that follows, but it never feels like there is enough time amongst this group of friends. <\/p>\n<p align=\"\u201cjustify\u201d\">\u3000\u3000Brother Ma has benefited tremendously from being a member of the President\u2019s Council.\u201d In the meeting, he has the opportunity to receive input regarding church administration and pastoral work from those who are more senior to him. Their experience can serve as useful reference for his own church. Members also share valuable insights and experiences on how to build up the congregation. Moreover, through these exchanges, he is able to understand the heart and vision of pastors. <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color: #235ba8; font-size: 24px;\"><strong>Nurturing Believers: Living the Life of Christ<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p align=\"\u201cjustify\u201d\">\u3000\u3000<em><strong>Brother Ma points out that under President Cho\u2019s leadership, HKBTS does not only train believers to know about the Bible. It nurtures students to learn to trust Christ and live the life of the Lord. <\/em><\/strong> President Cho is someone with drive and courage who leads the seminary with heart. Over the years, the seminary has been advancing step by step to realize his goal of the \u201cFaith, Hope, and Love Project.\u201d <\/p>\n<p align=\"\u201cjustify\u201d\">\u3000\u3000Moreover, Brother Ma is greatly impressed with the seminary\u2019s graduates. Over the past two years, his church has hired five or six of them. He finds that those who have graduated in recent years are of very high standard, capable of illuminating the Bible as well as applying Biblical knowledge to life. They are also modest and down-to-earth. Imbued with the heart of a pastor, they are earnest to serve others. Brother Ma urges students, besides undergoing practical training in churches, to get more involved in social service and to visit people from diverse social backgrounds during semesters. In 2014, Brother Ma was invited by Dean Cao to join the &quot;Dean&#039;s Council&quot;. He could not refuse the invitation and respectfully obeyed. Brother Ma felt that Dean Cao was amiable and willing to listen to others&#039; opinions; he felt honored to be able to participate in the seminary with him. Moreover, as a Baptist, Brother Ma was very interested in understanding how &quot;HKTS&quot; operates and how his pastors are trained. Furthermore, the members of the Council come from all walks of life and can provide useful suggestions to the Dean from their own expertise. Moreover, there is a trusting friendship between the members and the Dean, and they can share frankly and speak out. The Council can also try to leave the Dean&#039;s comfort zone and play the role of challenging and speaking out, which helps to broaden the Dean&#039;s thinking. Brother Ma feels that this is very meaningful. The Baptist Family &quot;Dean&#039;s Council&quot; holds an exchange meeting in April and May every year. Brother Ma always feels that he has not had enough every time he participates. Although the members come from different Baptist churches of different sizes, there are seniors and juniors, and there is only one meeting every year, there is a feeling of being one family. We are all Baptist members, and we have the blessing to participate in the affairs of the Baptist family together, and fulfill the principle of &quot;all believers are priests&quot;. Brother Ma said that after everyone warmed up, each member responded to the Dean&#039;s sharing and offered advice to the Dean; unfortunately, time was limited and they often could not speak freely; even if they could still share at the dinner table afterwards, many times everyone was not able to enjoy it. Brother Ma also benefited a lot from participating in the &quot;Dean&#039;s Council&quot;. At the exchange meeting, he had the opportunity to listen to the experiences of his predecessors in managing churches and pastoring, which can be used as a mirror for his own church; everyone also exchanged their insights and experiences in building churches, which is very valuable. In addition, he had the opportunity to understand the heart and vision of pastors. Cultivating believers to live out Jesus Brother Ma pointed out that under the leadership of Dean Cao, &quot;HKTS&quot; not only trains believers to know the Bible, but also cultivates students to believe in Jesus and live out Jesus. Dean Cao is bold and leads the seminary with his heart. Over the years, he has gradually realized the &quot;Faith, Hope and Love Project&quot; he proposed. In addition, Brother Ma admires the graduates of &quot;HKTS&quot; very much. His church has hired five or six of them in the past two years. He believes that the level of graduates in recent years is high, and their ability to explain and apply the Bible on the pulpit has improved; moreover, they are more solid, serve diligently, and have a pastoral heart. Brother Ma suggested that in addition to internships in the church during their studies, students can also participate in social services or visit people from different walks of life to learn how to get along with different people and broaden their \u57f9\u80b2\u4fe1\u5f92\u3000\u6d3b\u51fa\u8036\u7a4c
