Brian Lam. Three-quarters of the class was taught by President Cho. This is the only team-taught class I ever attended. <\/p>\n<p align=\"\u201cjustify\u201d\">\u3000\u3000In the past, \u201cPreaching\u201d has always been taught by the same single teacher for a long time; therefore, most of the students could learn about the teacher\u2019s teaching methods, class requirements, and even grading preferences beforehand through the seniors. This arrangement has its advantages and disadvantages. The advantage is that students can gain access to reference materials easily, and obtain help from fellow students who have attended this course before. The disadvantage is that since students could figure out the teacher\u2019s grading preference, they might tend to be \u201cgrade-oriented\u201d and have less motivation to make serious efforts in their studies. Of course, a positive learning attitude depends mainly on one\u2019s own motive, and even one\u2019s spirituality. <\/p>\n<p align=\"\u201cjustify\u201d\">\u3000\u3000This time the \u201cPreaching\u201d course was team-taught. Its main attraction was the two teachers\u2019 great preaching skills and rich experiences; thus it allowed students to learn simultaneously the art of preaching of the two teachers. As I recall, their preaching styles were both distinctive. Therefore, even before the course began, I expected that their teaching methods would be different. <\/p>\n<p align=\"\u201cjustify\u201d\">\u3000\u3000President Cho took the leading role throughout the teaching process, and taught us the main points of the textbook, which was written by Professor Thomas Long, a famous American preacher. President Cho was very familiar with this book; he was very well-prepared. Rev. Lam was also present throughout the first half of the course when President Cho was teaching the class. Moreover, there was considerable interaction between the two teachers. For instance, when President Cho mentioned certain examples about a particular preacher, Rev. Lam would then provide additional information, presenting us a fuller picture. In addition to having rich preaching experience, Rev. Lam has a solid understanding of the textbook, too. He is the chaplain of our seminary and has deep understanding of the preaching practices of different churches. Hence, besides learning from President Cho the content of the textbook, students also have the opportunity to learn through Rev. Lam Kwok-pin, with Dean Tsao teaching three quarters of the class time. This is the only course I have taken that uses &quot;co-teaching&quot;. In the past, &quot;Homiletics&quot; has always been taught by a single teacher, and it has always been the same teacher for a long time; therefore, most students know the teacher&#039;s teaching methods, homework requirements, and even grading preferences from their seniors. The advantage is that students can more easily obtain reference materials for the subject, and can communicate with seniors and help each other; the disadvantage is that since they can guess the grading preferences of a single teacher, it is possible that students will adopt a &quot;score-oriented&quot; learning mentality, reducing the motivation to study seriously. Of course, the learning attitude mainly depends on the student&#039;s own learning motivation and even life situation. The reason why the &quot;co-teaching&quot; model of &quot;Homiletics&quot; is attractive is not only because the two teachers have profound preaching skills and rich experience, but also because it allows students to absorb the preaching methods of both teachers at the same time. In my impression, the preaching styles of the two teachers are unique, so before the course started, I expected that their teaching methods would also be very different. During the teaching process, Dean Cao took the leading role and focused on teaching the key points in the textbook. The textbook we used was written by Professor Thomas Long, a famous American preacher. Dean Cao was very familiar with this book, reflecting his sufficient preparation in advance.
