The first one was \u201cPreaching,\u201d co-taught by President Joshua Cho and Rev. Brian Lam; another was \u201cWilliam Willimon on Worship, Ethics and Preaching,\u201d co-taught by three teachers, Dr. Freeman Huen, Dr. Andres Tang and Rev. Brian Lam. <\/p>\n<p align=\"\u201cjustify\u201d\">\u3000\u3000If a course is taught by a single teacher, one could only get to see the viewpoint of one particular teacher on a certain topic. Although the teachers are all knowledgeable with ability to synthesize, as well as able to expound one\u2019s own interpretation, the process of integrating various information may not necessarily be presented before the eyes of the students, so that they may learn by example. Whereas by conducting classes with a team teaching approach, each teacher is not only able to offer insights based on one\u2019s expertise, but can also exchange, discuss, and integrate ideas with other teachers. <em><strong>For me, it was amazing enough to see different teachers reveal their depth of knowledge about the same topic; what\u2019s more, I could also see how they discuss and integrate ideas, with a live demonstration of integrating theological disciplines\u2014what a feast for the eyes. <\/em><\/strong> <\/p>\n<p align=\"\u201cjustify\u201d\">\u3000\u3000I remember when attending the course \u201cWilliam Willimon on Worship, Ethics and Preaching,\u201d Dr. Huen and Dr. Tang explained Willimon\u2019s views on worship and preaching. They cited various references to explicate its theological significance, and even elaborated on how to do theology through church services and worshipping. Certainly this sounded very abstract, let alone having to explain how to produce ethical results in the process. It was then when Rev. Lam resorted to his rich pastoral ministering and preaching experience, detailing how to do theology that brings about ethical results in the realistic circumstances. He supported his viewpoints with both examples and grounding in theology. In subjects taught by a single teacher, we only hear the perspective of that single teacher on a particular topic. Although the teacher is highly knowledgeable and can synthesize various perspectives to explain their own viewpoint, the process of refining that perspective is not necessarily shown to the students for observation. In classes using the &quot;collaborative teaching&quot; model, each teacher offers their perspective on a particular topic from their own area of expertise, and they also exchange, discuss, and integrate their insights with other teachers. For me, it was already fascinating to hear different teachers demonstrate their expertise on the same topic; moreover, witnessing their discussions and integration was a vivid demonstration of interdisciplinary theological integration, a truly delightful experience. I remember in the &quot;Vellmon: Worship, Ethics, and Preaching&quot; course, Professors Xuan and Deng explained Verimon&#039;s views on worship and preaching. They drew upon a wide range of sources to clearly illustrate its theological significance, even explaining how to conduct theology through worship or in worship. Of course, this was quite abstract, let alone explaining how it produced ethical effects. At this point, Pastor Lin stepped in, drawing upon his rich pastoral and preaching experience to concretely explain how this was done in practical situations and how it brought about ethical effects; his lecture was not only accompanied by examples but also rich in theological insights.
