Their \u201chomeless\u201d clients include street sleepers, people who risk homelessness, and those who live in poor conditions. Our tour guide is a client of the association. The route mainly consists of places he frequents, including a Chinese barbecue eatery, a Chinese preserved fruit store, a McDonald\u2019s, and a cybercaf\u00e9. The first two are shops that he frequently patronizes, and the last two are where he takes a rest and enjoys his spare time. <\/p>\n<p align=\"\u201cjustify\u201d\">\u3000\u3000There are two things that have made a deep impression on me. The first of which is about the small shops in the area. We arrived at the preserved fruit store only to find that it was closed down. A staff member of the association told us that the landlord would not sign a long-term contract with the preserved fruit store owner, who could only renew the tenancy every month. It is likely that the store owner decided to close the business because of the high rent and lack of stability. Our tour guide said the shop assistant mentioned nothing about closing down when he visited the store just a few days before. It was clear from his tone that he was helpless. <\/p>\n<p align=\"\u201cjustify\u201d\">\u3000\u3000The second thing is about living conditions. Our guide used to live in an extremely cramped space with deplorable conditions: he was bitten by bedbugs every night in an unclean home that charged higher rent than luxurious flats. He had to take a rest in McDonald\u2019s and cybercaf\u00e9s because the conditions at his home were appalling. Though we only spent a few hours with him, we could tell that the association has evidently improved his situation. Not only does he now have a flat to live in, and an association to call home, but he also has Jesus as his savior. This is great witness to how Christian Concern for the Homeless Association becomes a neighbor of residents in Sham Shui Po. <\/p>\n<p align=\"\u201cjustify\u201d\">\u3000\u3000During the tour, our guide repeatedly said, \u201cWhat I want is not relief materials. All I want is someone to care about me.\u201d His words reminded me of the parable of the Good Samaritan (Lk 10:25-37). With this story, Jesus taught us to be a disciple who truly loves God, one who obeys the teachings of Jesus and loves his neighbors with compassion. The &quot;homeless&quot; served by this organization include street sleepers, people facing homelessness, and people living in poor housing. Our guide is a beneficiary of this association. The guided tour route is mainly arranged according to the places where the beneficiaries live in their daily lives, including roast meat shops, Chinese preserved fruit shops, McDonald&#039;s, and Internet cafes. The roast meat shop and Chinese preserved fruit shop are the shops that this guide often visits, while McDonald&#039;s and Internet cafes are his places to rest and relax. There are two things that impressed me the most. The first thing is about the small shops in the area. When we arrived at the preserved fruit shop, we found out that the shop had closed down. From the colleagues of the association, we learned that the owner of the shop did not sign a long-term lease with the owner of the preserved fruit shop, and was only willing to renew the lease with them for one month each month. We guessed that the owner of the preserved fruit shop chose to close the business because of the high rent and the inability to do business stably. The tour guide said that he had come to patronize the shop a few days ago, and the staff did not mention that the shop was about to close. From his tone, we can also feel his helplessness about this matter. The second thing is about the housing problem. The tour guide&#039;s previous residence was not only extremely cramped, but also in a very bad environment. He was bitten by bed bugs every night and smelled bad, but he had to pay a rent that was more expensive than a luxury house. Because the living environment was too bad, he had to go to McDonald&#039;s and Internet cafes to rest. Although this community tour was only a few hours, we saw that this organization has brought obvious changes and improvements to the homeless. Now, the tour guide not only has a house to live in, but also has the association as his home, and Jesus as his personal savior. This testifies to how the Association for Caring for the Homeless has become a neighbor of the residents of Sham Shui Po and a beautiful testimony. Throughout the tour, the guide kept repeating this sentence: \u201cI don\u2019t want material things, I just want people to care about me.\u201d This reminded me of the story of the \u201cGood Samaritan\u201d (Luke 10:25-37).
