data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p align=\"\u201cjustify\u201d\">\u3000\u3000When I began writing this essay at 10 AM on August 25, 2015, it was also the time when the Seminary\u2019s Opening Convocation for the 2015-16 school year began. This year I am no longer a student. Looking back at the past four years of my studies at the seminary, I can see that I was on the path of \u201cknowing God, recognizing faith and my true self,\u201d which has changed me forever.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color: #235ba8; font-size: 24px;\"><strong>Knowing God<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p align=\"\u201cjustify\u201d\">\u3000\u3000Entering into the Seminary, the very first serious theological question that I faced was: \u201cWhat is God?\u201d Unexpectedly, the teacher posed this question and asked each of the 14 students in class to take turns answering and elaborating on their answers only to be \u201cslapped in the face\u201d by the teacher. Finally, when none of us could offer the \u201ccorrect,\u201d or \u201csatisfactory\u201d answer, I was even persuaded to confess that actually I had not known God well enough. Due to this, I unexpectedly began my journey obsessed with such questions as \u201cwhat is God?\u201d and \u201cwho is God?\u201d as I began my 4-year study program at the seminary.<\/p>\n<p align=\"\u201cjustify\u201d\">\u3000\u3000Of course, this was no simple journey. When the students asked whether seminary study means reading through 66 books of the Bible, we were trying to find out what kind of God is God as the Bible unfolds and expounds throughout our studies in biblical studies, systematic theology, church history and the like. When I shouted \u201cGod is love,\u201d the Seminary sought to train me to reexamine what \u201cGod is love\u201d really means. When I exalt the kind of sacrificial love displayed by Jesus hanging on the cross, I reflect on how he manifests his love to humankind through what he said and did during his more than thirty years on Earth. If I keep on asking, I will have to think carefully about the meaning of \u201cGod is love\u201d in suffering. These four years of theological training allowed me to deeply understand that \u201cWhat is God\u201d cannot be explained in simple terms and so neither can it be answered with one universal solution.<\/p>\n<p align=\"\u201cjustify\u201d\">\u3000\u3000Such exercises in thinking challenged the God that I had conceived of and deepened my understanding of God\u2019s attributes. Sometimes it made me feel like I was full of doubts while at other times it filled me with joy. This four-year journey of deepening my knowledge of God has enabled me to further my trust in God, to make my Christian faith more comprehensive, and to be better able to withstand difficulties.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color: #235ba8; font-size: 24px;\"><strong>Recognizing Faith<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p align=\"\u201cjustify\u201d\">\u3000\u3000\u201cFaith in my service\u201d was the most central and worst misconception that I held before my seminary studies. Although I did not say it aloud, I indeed thought this way. As I prayed, I submitted my \u201cservice\u201d plan to God, asking Him to help carry it out according to my plan. I had prepared for God His action plan, hadn\u2019t I? Now, after four years of training and learning to know God once again coupled with the loving yet vigorous edification of my teachers, I had recognized my faith more than ever before. For me, the process of faith recognition was a journey, which led me to yield my sovereignty to God.<\/p>\n<p align=\"\u201cjustify\u201d\">\u3000\u3000For being able to walk along this path, I must thank the inspirational teachers who showed me the ideas of many theologians, the construction of church history, and the interpretation of scriptures, knowing that my faith is no hallow conviction. First of all, the Christian faith is not a blind or superstitious conviction; instead, our faith is: owing to our knowing God, we are willing to let His will transform our lives. Moreover, knowing that to recognize my faith is to find out and go after this Lord of Creation. I learn to submit the sovereignty of my life and let God be my guide in life, for He is trustworthy and I am not.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color: #235ba8; font-size: 24px;\"><strong>Recognizing Myself<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p align=\"\u201cjustify\u201d\">\u3000\u3000It is not that I found a god in whom I believe so that this god will serve me, but that there is one God who calls us to follow Him. When I recognize the Christian faith in this way, I am able to recognize myself as a creature with limitations\u2014as neither the master of my own life nor the master of others; I can have no authority to devise the best life plan for myself or others\u2014 only our infinite God can. Thanks to recognizing myself in this way, I have learned humility that I could never quite understand before.<\/p>\n<p align=\"\u201cjustify\u201d\">\u3000\u3000This journey could not have happened without my fellow students walking alongside me. Amongst us, there was no need for competition or comparison. We, as with all people, are always good at criticizing other people\u2019s weaknesses, or reminding others what they should do, or worrying about whether or not someone is fit to be a pastor. We are liable to see other\u2019s deficiencies but not our own; we ought not to forget that we are only finite creatures. Like our fellow students, we are but sinners redeemed by grace. Interestingly enough, others may also worry about whether or not we are fit to be pastors. In fact, we are all equals who have received God\u2019s grace and none is better than others.<\/p>\n<p align=\"\u201cjustify\u201d\">\u3000\u3000Without such a group of schoolmates walking shoulder to shoulder with me, these four years of study at the seminary would have been very different. Without them, I might not have realized my own deficiencies; without them, I might also have not discovered my own strength. My schoolmates are a gift from God who have accepted me for who I am.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color: #235ba8; font-size: 24px;\"><strong>Forever Changed by My Journey<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p align=\"\u201cjustify\u201d\">\u3000\u3000In this way, my path has led me to study here and now my studies have come to an end. I must give thanks to all those who have supported me during this journey, especially to all the Seminary staff and my fellow students. Bachelor of Theology As I begin writing, it is 10:00 am on August 25, 2015, which happens to be the opening ceremony of the seminary. This year I am no longer a student, and my student identity has come to an end. Looking back on the past four years of studying theology, I find that it was a journey of &quot;knowing God, recognizing faith, and knowing myself&quot;, and it is also a journey that has made me different. Knowing God After entering the seminary, the first big theological problem I encountered was: &quot;What is God?&quot; Unexpectedly, the teacher asked this question in class, and the fourteen students in the class took turns to answer, and answered again and again, but were &quot;hit head-on&quot; by the teacher. In the end, none of us could give a &quot;correct&quot; or &quot;satisfactory&quot; answer, and I was even convinced - it turned out that I didn&#039;t know God (enough). Unexpectedly, this is how we embarked on a journey to know God again, and started a four-year theological journey with questions such as what God is and who God is. This is certainly not an easy journey. When others ask me if I have to finish reading all 66 books of the Bible when I study theology, we are exploring what kind of God is shown and discussed in the Bible, systematic theology, church history, etc. When I shout &quot;God is love&quot;, the college will train me to rethink what &quot;God is love&quot; really means. When I exalt the sacrificial love of Jesus who was crucified, I have to think about how Jesus&#039; words and deeds during his more than 30 years on earth demonstrated His love for people. If I continue to ask, I will also think about the meaning of &quot;God is love&quot; in suffering. Four years of theological training have made me deeply realize that &quot;what God is&quot; cannot be explained in a few words, and it is even more impossible to &quot;have one answer to go the world.&quot; These learning and thinking exercises have challenged my previous understanding of God and deepened my understanding of God&#039;s attributes. Sometimes it makes me full of doubts, and sometimes it makes me happy and satisfied. This four-year journey of re-understanding God has made me trust God more deeply, and has also made my faith more comprehensive and more able to withstand the test. Recognize the Faith &quot;Faith serves me&quot; was the most core and most wrong concept before I studied theology. Although I never said it, didn&#039;t I always think so in my heart? I prayed and handed my &quot;service&quot; plan to God, asking God to carry out this plan. Isn&#039;t it preparing a work schedule for God? Now, after four years of training to know God again, under the loving and strict teachings of the teachers, I have a clearer understanding of faith than before. I describe recognizing faith as a journey of surrendering sovereignty. I must thank my teachers for their inspiration to be able to embark on this journey. They have led me to know the thoughts of many theologians, the historical construction of the church, and the interpretation of the Bible, so that I know that faith is not an empty belief. What Christianity believes in today is not blind and superstitious beliefs; secondly, faith does not stop at knowing and knowledge; our faith is: because we know our God, we are willing to let His will transform our belief in life. Moreover, when I know that recognizing faith is to discover and follow this Creator, I learn to surrender sovereignty and let God guide my
