Rankin Memorial Library

Since 1953, the Hong Kong Baptist Theological Seminary library is named in honor of Milledge Theron Rankin (1894-1953). Dr. Rankin served in China for a number of years and then became the Executive Secretary of the Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. His life was devoted to spreading the gospel throughout the world.

Ever since the Seminary moved from Kowloon to the Sai O campus in Spring 1999, the Library has been located at the 2nd floor of the Administration and Education Block of the new campus, providing seats and reading tables for 40 readers.

The library currently houses over 133,800 books in Chinese and English, 210 periodical titles, 6,680 bound volumes, 36,900 e-books, 1,320 electronic journals, 13,100 audio-visual materials, 840 CDs (560 titles), and 40 reading spaces. With a total collection of over 192,000 items, it is one of the most resource-rich libraries in local seminaries.

The Library has adopted Alma with Primo in June 2019 to replace its current library system, Dynix, which has been used for over twenty years. New system enable library to manage the print and electronic resources through a single interface. Through simple search queries by Title, Author, Subject or Keyword, library users are able to retrieve the bibliographical records, identify the location of particular items, and check the availability of the items in the Library.
