suject An invitation to iconography: from image to prayer
content “Icons are not easy to ‘read’. They do not immediately speak to our senses… They do not reveal themselves to us at first sight… When an icon speaks, it speaks to the heart that seeks God” ~ Nouwen (2016) This course guides students to ‘read’ icons through understanding the basics of icon painting, appreciating the art of icon painting, and experiencing icons as a tool for personal and/or group prayer, so as to experience the transformation of the “pictorial word of God” and connect with the Lord with a humble heart.
