Interview with Pastor Liu Fuquan Alumnus Liu Fuquan obtained a diploma in Bible studies in 1953 and was the second graduate of this college. Pastor Liu, who is now seventy-six years old, still often preaches on the pulpit with a loud voice, and still serves as a freelance evangelist in more than ten churches. He was only 23 years old when he graduated. From the 1950s, when the 20th century was a bit old and faded, he walked step by step into the era of information technology explosion in the 21st century. For example, when discussing the issue of abortion, in addition to having sufficient knowledge of philosophy, sociology, and biblical teachings, you also need to have a certain understanding of pregnancy and childbirth. Similarly, when discussing some issues in gene therapy, in addition to having an understanding of the disciplines being studied, one must also understand the various sciences involved. Old Testament ethics is a field of ethics that examines the values, assumptions, and practices of the Old Testament to see how they relate to issues facing people today. The name "Old Testament Ethics" does not mean that other disciplines are ignored; it simply means that today's issues are discussed from an Old Testament perspective. Academically speaking, discussing ethics in this way would lead to the problem of "mistaking the era" because the Old Testament era and the present era are inherently incomparable. However, the existence and practical legitimacy of Old Testament ethics are theological: God's word transcends time, culture, and geography. ...
