The Household Codes in the New Testament: Submit to One Another

Albert Cheung, Honorary Chaplain, quotes a Chinese saying: "A country has its laws, and a family has its rules." Every country has its own system and laws that enable it to function smoothly and ensure social fairness and stability. Citizens have an obligation to respect these systems and abide by the law. Similarly, every family has its own customs and norms, usually called "family rules," used to regulate the behavior of its members and cultivate good personal character. Family members have a responsibility to respect these customs and abide by these norms. Whether in today's society or in the Heroic society of the first century, the family is the most basic unit of society. Harmonious relationships among family members can promote social harmony, stability, and prosperity. ...

Five Things That God Let Me See in These Two Years

Angel Mei-On Hong (MCS), Master of Christian Studies: I. Theology Doesn't Teach Me to Master God, But Rather Enables Me to Humblely Know Him. Qiuyu Li (M.Div.), Master of Theology: One day in June, a classmate suddenly messaged me: "Good morning, Qiuyu! It suddenly occurred to me that I've never heard you mention why you wanted to pursue further studies. You've sacrificed so much, especially your family life; what's the motivation and reason behind it?" I vaguely gave a few reasons, admitting that sometimes I didn't fully understand the choices I made. This theological path may not have had clear answers when I first embarked on it, but it still allows me to unexpectedly encounter God's grace. Beyond increasing knowledge and insight, it's also a journey of inner self-growth. I've met my true self, met God, and encountered a community of true believers. ...

My Twelve Years of Study

Patrick Chan (M.Div.), Pastor Chen, along with his wife Cai Ling and son Ruo Tian, embarked on a theological journey. It has been exactly twelve years since he graduated with a Bachelor of Theology degree in 2014. At the beginning of his studies, feeling that in this era where the general education level is high, a Bachelor of Theology degree alone might be insufficient for pastoring in the near future, he resolutely decided to return to his alma mater to pursue a Master of Theology degree in the first year after graduation. Seeing many seniors and friends around him unable to complete a second degree for various reasons, he secretly vowed from the beginning to complete it and never give up halfway. However, various changes in the church, family, society, and himself once undermined his determination to continue his studies. Later, his wife was called to study theology, which became the opportunity for him to start again and complete his studies. Thanks be to God the Father, this year I will stand with her on the graduation stage...
