The Same Call at the Same Place

Fong King-yan (M.Div. 1) I suddenly felt that my career as a player was over. I decided to believe in the Lord in 2003. Unfortunately, I only had a vague understanding of Jesus' salvation at that time, and the gospel seed only fell on shallow soil. Over the next few years, I made rugby my life and gradually stopped attending parties. During college, I spent five or six days a week training and competing, and my relationship with my family became increasingly alienated, and I ignored their advice. ...

Students’ Testimonies of God’s Call

There are two couples among our freshmen this school year, Jingren and Yongmei are one of them. This issue of "Hospital News" published three testimonies of being called, the first two of which were written by Jingren and Yongmei. I hope that readers can see from their stories how God’s calling comes to a couple separately, and how God uses miraculous works to lead His children to embark on the path of dedication at the same time. ...

God’s Justice Is Unlike Ours (I)

Freeman Huen Assistant Professor of Practical Theology (Social Ethics) "Why can't we use force to fight for justice?" After the changes in the political situation in Hong Kong in recent years, the social fabric of Hong Kong has become increasingly torn apart, and people with different political views have been fighting against each other. As a result, such voices have begun to emerge in society. Some Christians are unable to resist the temptation of violence with the gospel of peace, and even some within the church have raised the same question. In their eyes, upholding justice, upholding righteousness, and expelling evil, as well as helping the weak and combating the strong, are the church's top social missions. Some believers even advocate "resisting violence with force" in a righteous manner, fully believing that such "sacrifice for righteousness" is most like Christ. ...

To Sow in Tears in a Dry Land

The Characteristics of a Preacher

The Full Extent of Jesus' Love

The Preaching of Preachers-in-Training

Preaching is an extremely important ministry for evangelists. They must be loyal to their calling throughout their lives, explain God’s words with all their heart, and undertake the ministry of preaching. The "Graduation Preaching" restored by the college more than seven years ago is to allow a group of prospective evangelists who are about to graduate to practice in preaching service, experience God's grace in it, and receive encouragement from the entire college community. , reminders and blessings. ...

The Sharing of Students in Certificate in Life and Death Education from a Christian Perspective Program 2023-24

There are many life and death education courses in the market, but most of them are fragmented lectures that fail to specifically and comprehensively deconstruct the issues of life and death. Thanks to the Baptist Theological Education Department for offering this course, which allows me to connect Christian theology with life and death education, and to understand other religions’ views on life and death. This course helped me learn how to face death calmly, understand "transitioning from death to life", and actively face the difficulties of life and death. I also learned to understand the feelings of bereaved people and walk with those who grieve. ...

A Further Discussion on Christian Life and Death Education

How does it feel to face death? What do we say, think, imagine and hope for before saying goodbye? What can we do to prepare for the day of "saying goodbye"? Since the Hong Kong Baptist Theological Seminary (HKBS) launched Christian life and death education last year, it has received a lot of positive responses. This year, our College’s Theological Education Department once again co-organized a Christian Life and Death Education Seminar with the church. The theme was “Before the Day We Say Goodbye…”, exploring people’s feelings and needs when facing death, and how to help them say goodbye to their families. In addition, the Believers’ Theological Education Department will launch a new “Certificate in Christian Life and Death Education” course in October to provide believers with master’s level training. ...
