Traces of God’s Grace

Yeung Ka-chun (M.Div.) Yeung Ka-chun and teacher Liu Zhenpeng's three-year theological student life passed in a flash. There were hard times, but also countless happy and unforgettable moments. The intense classroom learning, various college activities, internships, studies, and family all weighed heavily on each other. The pressure we endured was certainly a reflection of our three-year seminary life. Add to that the different challenges that each of us experienced in life, such as marriage, childbirth, illness, and the loss of loved ones, and we were able to overcome many difficulties. Looking back, everything was a sign of God’s grace. ...

A Dream Come True

Han Yufang (M.Div) Han Yufang (second from left) and her classmates Before entering Baptist Theological Seminary, as someone who had served as a pastor in mainland China for many years, leaving the church to study full-time was a dream I never dared to dream of. However, perhaps God saw my suffering, knew my shortcomings, and took care of my desires; one day, I unexpectedly got a place to take an exam to study abroad. So I prayed to God earnestly and seized this opportunity. Although there were still some bumps along the way, thanks to God’s protection, my dream finally came true. ...

HKBTS saved my pastoring life!

Lam Tien-you, Master of Christian Studies (MCS) The title of this article may seem exaggerated, like self-promotion, but it is absolutely true. Long live economics! Shenke is boring! In 2008, I completed my bachelor’s degree in biblical studies at a Bible college in the United States and have been pastoring ever since. During my studies, I took the general curriculum courses for the Bachelor of Theology (i.e. the "four pillars": Bible studies, church history, systematic theology, and practical theology), with the majority of them being Bible studies. At the time, I felt like, "Long live economics! Theology is boring!" Even after studying systematic theology for three semesters, my impression of theology was just a bunch of boring discussions. So when I graduated, my feeling towards theology was negative. ...

God calls brothers and sisters to enter Baptist Theological Seminary and experience the amazing journey of grace. In addition to learning theological knowledge, practicing pastoral skills, and cultivating character, students also experienced God's love and healing, the fellowship of the disciple group, and learned various "hidden courses" during their studies. Their lives were enlightened and their spiritual lives were renewed. Following the path of Christ is truly a path of grace! ...

The Unending Call

Ng Siu-man (B.Th. 1), Bachelor of Theology, Year 1 Siu-man, his wife Sze-min and their two children Troublesome Student/Disciple of God The moment I decided to believe in Jesus, I firmly believed that He had chosen me to be His disciple. In elementary school, I was a troublesome student and all the teachers disliked me. Since Grade 4, I was often punished to sit in different "special positions" in the classroom, such as next to the teacher, in the four corners of the classroom, sitting at the door facing the outside, etc. You can imagine how much the teacher hates me. At that time, I was often scolded and punished. I felt deeply that no one accepted me. Unconsciously, my self-worth and self-esteem gradually became lower and lower. ...

Good Neighbor of the Homeless

Ng Siu-man B.Th. Student Group 6 and Group 7 (Sham Shui Po) took a group photo. This community guided tour was led by the Christian Concern for the Homeless Association in Sham Shui Po. The "homeless" served by this organization include those who sleep rough, those facing homelessness, and those living in poor housing. Our tour guides are the beneficiaries of this association, and the guided tour routes are mainly arranged according to the places where the beneficiaries live in their daily lives, including roast meat shops, Chinese preserved fruit shops, McDonald's, and Internet cafes. The guide often visits roast meat shops and Chinese preserved fruit shops, while McDonald's and Internet cafes are his places to rest and relax. ...

Getting to Know Our Community by Looking Beyond Our Horizons

Yip Chun-sze M.Div. Student Group 5 (Shek Kip Mei) Group photo During this spiritual practice day, our group came to Shek Kip Mei to get to know the community. We went to Tai Hang Sai New Village, Sham Shui Po Community Association, St. Francis Xavier Church and other places. The mother church of my church is in Pak Tin, and the mother church of the mother church is in Tai Hang Tung. The first place we surveyed that day was Tai Hang Sai Village, which is the place I had to pass through for many years when going between the mother church and the mother church. I am familiar with Tai Hang West Village. When the church holds camps, Tai Hang West Village is often used as one of the checkpoints for orienteering. This is because the area is large but there are not many residents, most of whom are elderly people. There are no administrators to interfere with us, so it is a good place to play group games. Until now, we have not asked much about this community. We only know that there is a reconstruction plan for this area, so the church hopes to serve the residents there after the reconstruction of Tai Hang West Village. However, during this community tour, the tour guide told us the stories behind the community’s development, which completely changed my mind about serving this community. ...
