Expanding the Disciple Community of “Faith, Hope, and Love” and Campus Extension

President Joshua Cho I still remember that nine years ago when I first took office as president, a member who cared deeply about our institute took the initiative to propose to me that he was willing to donate a considerable amount of money to our institute for the construction of a new building. At that time, I thought that I had just taken office as the dean and the seminary was in a state of disrepair. I only wanted to seek God’s guidance to teach me how to lead the seminary out of the gloom and depression. I must not let down the love that the brothers and sisters have given to the seminary, but everything must be in accordance with God's timing. The most urgent task is to get the seminary back on track, so I made up my mind before God, to work quietly on the soil given by God, the seminary, and wait for the time prepared by God to come. ...

A Spiritual Voyage

Dai Shengming (M. Div.) and Teacher Liu Zhenpeng embarked on a spiritual journeyOn January 4, 2016, I officially entered the country and came to Hong Kong Baptist Theological Seminary (HKBS) from the Mainland. My first impression of BTS was that it was peaceful and tranquil, clean and tidy. "Baptism of God" faces the sea, like a large ship anchored at the shore, ready to sail at any time; the visual effect is very strong, it can be said to be beautiful, far beyond my imagination. Surrounded by such beautiful scenery, I prayed to God, entrusted my studies and life over the next two years to Him, and looked forward to a bright future. ...

Being the Lord’s Disciple in Everyday Life

Ho Man-chiu (MCS) Ho Man-chiu and Professor Deng Shaoguang completed the two-year Master of Christian Studies program in the blink of an eye. In the blink of an eye, I will be leaving Hong Kong Baptist Theological Seminary. I enrolled with a "problem consciousness" and I still remember that one of the reasons I decided to enroll in this course was because I participated in the theological thought workshop hosted by Teacher Deng Shaoguang at the "Theological Luce" spiritual training and Bible study conference. This happened in 2016. At that time, Teacher Deng led a group of participants to think about what kind of theology is needed for Hong Kong’s current social and political situation. He also said that the Hong Kong Church cannot respond to Hong Kong’s social situation because the church has not focused on thinking about this issue in the past; the church is unable to respond and is actually just bearing the debt it has incurred over the years; however, we are now aware of the problem and have begun to think about it, which is better than not thinking about it. It was with this kind of "problem awareness" that I entered BTS, hoping to think about relevant issues for the church together with other like-minded people. ...

From Hunger for the Word to Life Transformation

To Yuen-chu, Doreen (MCS) Master of Christian Studies I entered the Hong Kong Baptist Theological Seminary with a heart as thirsty as a deer longing for water. Four years have passed in the blink of an eye. Thank God for allowing me to know the true way, which has fulfilled and transformed my life! Looking back on this period of time, it was like an adventurous journey, but it was full of God’s preparation and protection. ...

The Shaping of a Servant

Ho Tsz-mei (B.Th.) A Life-Shaping CourseI am very grateful to God for leading me to enter the Hong Kong Baptist Theological Seminary (HKBS) to complete the four-year Bachelor of Theology programme. Studying theology is never easy. In addition to coping with homework, exams, and unlimited book reading, students also have to face personal reflection, time allocation, getting along with people from different backgrounds, and various challenges encountered during church internships. All of this seems to have become the method that Heavenly Father gives to every seminary student to practice life and spirituality. Therefore, we, the group of theological students who have been called to receive theological education, not only study hard to improve our knowledge and skills, but also desire to be equipped by the Lord to become servants after His own heart, and to shepherd the flock entrusted to us by our heavenly Father with the example of our lives. ...

A Spiritual Voyage at HKBTS

The campus design of Hong Kong Baptist Theological Seminary ("Baptist Theological Seminary") is like a big ship. Brothers and sisters are called by God to embark on this big ship and embark on a spiritual voyage full of grace. Not only did they receive theological equipment in the discipleship group, but they also experienced tempering in it, and their lives grew, renewed, and made breakthroughs. This journey of "faith seeking understanding" eventually became a lifelong journey of "faith demonstration and understanding", which requires people to be faithful disciples of the Lord in words, deeds, teachings, and in matters big and small, showing the reality of Christ and what He has said. Everything accomplished! ...

Dedicated to God: Being Torn Down and Built Up Again

Terence Law (B.Th. I) Not wanting to let opportunities slip away I grew up in a Christian family as the only son. Since childhood, I have followed my parents to church - Fanling Baptist Church, attended Sunday school and participated in worship. When I was young, I made a decision two or three times. At that time, I thought it was very interesting and did not seriously think about the relationship between faith and my life, or whether I wanted God to change me. ...

Let Me Be a Blessing to Others

Carmen Chan (B.Th. I) Carmen Chan and her husband, Si Jin, shaped my life. When I was little, I was a happy girl. My father built the family business from scratch, and my parents worked very hard to allow me and my two younger sisters to have a happy childhood. I attended Christian schools for both primary and secondary school. I decided to believe in the Lord when I was in Form 3 or 4, but I did not go to church. ...
